California is especially terrible in this regard, the highest GDP in the country, yet 26.73% of the American homeless population live here. The state of California should expropriate empty houses to house people or put people to work and start the public works project of the century and build low cost apartments to bring down rent and keep people off the streets. The inaction in the area has left a powerful message. Americans need a government that will act for the people and not just the oligarchs.
